Just finished this gorgeous
Mortimer Snerd reproduction figure and he is ready to go! My
figures are a true labor of love and, although they are
certainly functional figures, I create them as museum quality
Mortimer's head, hands and legs are cast in resin. His legs are
quite special. I was able to obtain an original Bergen leg at a
Disney Studios auction in the mid-90's. I was able to mold the
leg and sculpt a mirror image leg for the other. The legs are in
two pieces... a thigh piece, that attaches to the torso with a
threaded rod and is attached at the knee to the lower leg by a
piece of heavy elastic, held with screws. His torso is made of
white pine and then upholstered in a quilted fabric.
Mortimer's head is held in place by a spring loaded head lock,
at the base of his torso's interior, so he can be safely
displayed without fear that his head will fall off. As you can
see, Mortimer, very easily, sits independently for display.
He has fixed blue glass eyes (like the original Mortimer) and
they are absolutely beautiful.
His wardrobe is stunning. He is outfitted in a beautiful custom
made wool and cashmere checked suit, in shades of olive green,
deep purpley royal blue and a deep wine red. His jacket is
vented in the back, to allow easy access to his head stick. He
is wearing a white shirt and vintage bow tie. His boots are so
cool... they are vintage 1940's two tone, beautifully worn
boots. I have not touched the scuffs on the toes, because I like
how they look. If you don't, it would be super easy to erase
this with a bit of brown shoe polish. Mortimer's hat is a
vintage boater hat with new hat band and bow, matching the
striping and bow on his original hat.
Mortimer's hair is styled in his typical shaggy blond style.
Shipping, insurance and professional packaging will run $225.
The packaging company I use does a phenomenal job at packaging
and the box he is shipped in is oversized, so he is quite
expensive to ship, but well worth it.
