| Up for sale is “Gordie”, an
exceptional Alien soft figure built by the expertly
craftsmanship of Verna Finley. He was originally commissioned to
be built to be used for a Las Vegas show based on the famed
“Area 51” which is less than 90 miles from the gaming mecca.
Alas, the show was cancelled before he made his debut. Gordie is
37” head to toes, plus 6 3/4” for his antennae. He is extremely
lightweight(almost weightless)at under 2lbs. The opening is
designed for forearm access, with the hand going into the head.
Verna built strong elastic bands into the mouth cavity to secure
the Ventriloquist’s hand for movement. On this creation Verna
added a function for moving eyebrows. Very Rare!! Very likeable,
friendly, and comic-like facial features. A great figure for
school shows, conventions, and walk-arounds. Comes to you as
shown. Built in 1997, he is in about 99.999% condition as when
he was originally received from Verna. Mrs. Finley is retired in
Virginia and no-longer makes her excellent figures for the
public. Her best known creation was Jeff Dunham’s “Peanut”. Her
existing figures only increase in value because of their rarity,
quality, and workmanship, and are unsurpassed for the pride of
ownership that they generate. Owning a Verna is to soft puppets,
as owning a Marshall or McElroy is with hard figures. Most of
her figures are now found only in private collections. Highly
sought after by professionals and collectors. It is rare to see
a “Verna” up for sale. I met with Verna several years ago, and
she stated to me that Gordie was one of her favorite creations.
Definitely a one-of-a-kind Verna “Masterpiece”.
There are several COPYCAT soft puppet
creators in the current market. Don’t pass up the rare chance to
own a true “VERNA”.
