A Few Months Ago...
I was talking to a working professional ventriloquist and he told me

A few days later I received the thesis. As I turned the pages to
start reading, I was floored. There was a handwritten comment to
this author complimenting him on this endeavor and
it was signed by
none other than Edgar Bergen!!!
Now I couldn't wait to start reading this informational manuscript
that was highly endorsed by Edgar Bergen. I sat down immediately and
read the entire thesis. I thought I already knew a lot about the
history of Ventriloquism during the last century, but as I was
reading, I was learning new information I had not known. I was also
amazed with how many countless hours of researching must have gone
into this comprehensive wealth of information about Ventriloquism.
Once again, this valuable reference guide was done before the modern
day computers and the Internet. Plus, this thesis was way before any

Before I tell you who he is, let me tell you a little about his
history. This ventriloquist got the “bug” at 12 years old when he
started going to see the Paul Winchell show at the ABC Studios in
New York City back in 1958. Every Sunday he would go to the show and immediately
he wanted to learn ventriloquism. With the help and teaching of Paul
Winchell, he learned ventriloquism.
He got to be such good friends with Mr. Winchell, that he would hang
out backstage and even play around with Jerry Mahoney and
Knucklehead Smiff.
In 1969, he ended up getting an Assistantship to attend Ole Miss
(University of Mississippi).
For his Master’s thesis he decided to
write about the art he loved, Ventriloquism. Scouring libraries
across the nation and corresponding with people all over the world,
he gathered the information to write his Master’s thesis (and
remember, this was many, many years prior to the Internet).
Today, after thirty years as a veteran professional ventriloquist,
the world knows him as Kenny Warren. Kenny has been seen
nationally on every major television network as well as being one of
the best known opening acts for many of America's leading headline
performers such as Jerry Seinfeld, Rosie O'Donnell, Bette Midler,
David Brenner, Richard Lewis, Robert Klein and the late Rodney
Dangerfield, Richard Pryor and Andy Kaufman to name a few!
Although widely known for his
adult performances, Kenny was awarded "Best Children's Performer" by
General Audience. He was the only ventriloquist chosen to
participate in The Miller Lite Comedy Riot Competition as well as a
guest appearance at the prestigious New York Friars Club Roast.
Kenny is one of America's only lecturers and
academic authorities on the Art and History of Ventriloquism. He titled his Master's thesis, “The Revival Of
Ventriloquism in America”. And I can tell you that it's a
masterpiece of thoroughly researched information on the Art of
Ventriloquism unlike any other. In fact, Kenny stayed good
friends with Paul Winchell and when he read the thesis, he told
